Cornerstone Baptist Church

Covenant - April 2026

As members of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Wylie, Texas, we covenant with one another to do the following:

1.     We will be faithful in the regular Sunday worship meeting of the church, preferring the church meeting over other conflicts that can be avoided. We will make extra effort to be present on days when the church needs a quorum to conduct business.

2.     We will pray for, encourage, exhort, and care for one another, doing good to all men, but especially those who are of the household of the faith. We will obey the Scriptures by being at peace with one another, and using biblical practices to restore that peace when it is disturbed. We commit to resolving conflicts within the church, not by resorting to external law, as Paul teaches us. We promise to neither give nor receive evil gossip or slander.

3.     We will practice personal holiness, and we commit to establishing households where Jesus is known and trusted, through spiritual disciplines of prayer, Bible study, and mutual encouragement.

4.     We will maintain sound doctrine in the church by holding church leaders and teachers to the approved statement of faith, and by choosing new leaders that will uphold that standard faithfully. We will study the Scriptures for ourselves and test all things by that standard.

5.     We will support the ministry of the word to our local community and to the world by giving faithfully and consistently out of our financial resources as God has blessed us. We will support teachers, elders and staff members, and bless the needy as we are able.

6.     We affirm the authority of the elders to fulfill their functions, and we affirm the authority of the congregation to impose discipline with the goal of restoration and repentance for the straying member. In the case of disciplinary action against ourselves, we will obey the process outlined in Matthew 18, including public rebuke and/or exclusion from the church. In any case, we will try to reconcile with the church rather than seceding or using worldly means to circumvent the process.

7.     We will, when we move from place to place, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all. Amen.
